For the American Horror Story fans out there, it’s been a long couple of months, waiting patiently to discover what the AHS Season 6 theme will be. Usually, the next season’s theme is released by now, but alas, we still sit waiting in the shadows to find out what FX’s American Horror Story Season 6 will hold. Even the cast has been more on the hush-hush than usual. Inquisitor has confirmed that only Even Peters, Denis O’Hare, Angela Bassett, Cheyenne Jackson, Matt Bomer, Lady Gaga, and Leslie Jordan have been confirmed for roles in the new season so far. And, any images or teaser trailers that have been released have included an ominous question mark next to the number 6 (?6). The only thing we do know for certain is that the new season will start on September 14, 2016.
Past seasons have explored haunted houses and hotels, asylums, circuses, ghosts, witches, aliens, serial killers, and more, leaving us wondering what Ryan Murphy could possibly have up his sleeve next. Like some of the previous seasons hinted at, will this season explore past connections between characters and story lines, or will we be entering a whole new world? Well, TMZ went to work spying on the set and got the first shots of what’s to come… and those photos reveal a lot about the theme.
It looks like we will be traveling back in time once again for the new AHS season, as by the photos (and hints from the below Sunset Stroll teaser trailer), Season 6 will be exploring the mystery of the Roanoke Colony disappearance. The photos show images of an old hut set-up from the 16th century colonies, and one word etched into a tree is a big hint about the AHS 6 theme: CROATOAN.
The recent teaser trailers certainly hint at this theme, and Bloody Disgusting even reported that FX CEO John Landgraf explained that the sixth season of the show will be, “…set in two time periods…but principally in the present.” So, while the American Horror Story Season 6 theme still has yet to be officially revealed, we’re getting closer thanks to some TMZ sleuthing!
